May – Sep for green valleys and open passes. Dec – Feb for ski, at a very different price.
Visa, money and practicalities
- Visa: Schengen — ~₹9,500 + VFS, 15–25 working days — apply early
- Currency: 1 CHF ≈ ₹95 — ₹1,000 ≈ 10.5 CHF
- SIM: eSIM ~₹1,500 — Swisscom coverage is excellent, even on peaks
- Power plug: Type J — Swiss only — Standard Europe adapters often will NOT fit
What nobody tells you about Switzerland
Two costs blindside Indian travellers. Switzerland uses the Type J plug, which most "Europe" adapters do not fit. And the mountain excursions everyone comes for are usually excluded — Jungfraujoch is about CHF 240 and Matterhorn Glacier Paradise about CHF 120 per person. A ₹1.5L Europe package can gain ₹40,000 on the peaks alone.
Who should skip Switzerland
Skip Switzerland if your all-in budget is under ₹1.5 lakh per person. It is genuinely worth the money, but it cannot be done cheaply and enjoyed.
