Late Sep – Mar. December to February is darkest and coldest, which is exactly what you want.

What nobody tells you about Northern Lights

Nobody can promise you the aurora — solar activity and cloud cover decide it, not the operator. Three nights gives you roughly a 50–60% chance; five to six nights pushes past 90%. Any package guaranteeing lights across two nights is selling you a coin toss with confidence.

Who should skip Northern Lights

Skip this if you cannot stand still outdoors at −15°C for two hours, or if you can only spare three nights. Under-booked aurora trips are the ones people regret.
